Supported Living
Havar provides in home supports that include help with all activities of daily living. Depending upon need, our staff can help 24 hours a day or just a few hours a week. Assistance includes housekeeping, cooking and nutrition, health and medical needs, paying bills, recreation, and more.Person Centered Planning
Havar and the consumer work together toward a valued future for the consumer addressing all areas of the individual's life, including health, human services, friendship, community involvement, and family relations-based on the consumer's preferences and values.PASSPORT Services
PASSPORT is a waiver program funded jointly by Ohio Medicaid and the federal government. The PASSPORT program offers a cost-effective, in-home alternative to nursing home care for medicaid eligible Ohio residents age 60 and older, promoting independence for individuals at home with long term care needs. Havar, Inc. provides PASSPORT services for personal care, homemaker care and respite care.Service Coordination
Experienced staff manage payeeships for individuals with a disability. They can also help to access and maintain benefits, follow up on complicated medical recommendations, coordinate with other services that are available in the community, and more.Day Programs
Havar offers an alternative day service-Building Bridges Adult Center-for Washington County residents with disabilities. Participants can sample recreation and leisure activities in a homelike atmosphere: activities like gardening, cooking, music therapy, arts, crafts, etc.Children Services
Havar can provide assistance as a parent mentor. A parent mentor can assist in improving parenting skills or learn alternative parenting techniques that nuture your child's self esteem, self confidence, enhances your child's sense of security and overall well being. We also can assist with appropriate parenting techniques including positive communication, listening and setting limits for discipline. We would be there to guide the parent and help them work toward their goals. This serice is offered through a contract with the Family and Children First Council of Washington County.Community Services
People First Chapters
"People First" is an international organization made up of advocates and self-advocates with disabilities. The Athens based "People First" chapter recently celebrated its' 12th anniversary. It was created by Havar Inc. who maintains sponsorship to this date. Primary objectives include advocating on issues and initiatives that involve citizens with disabilities, promote and participate in community activities inclusive to citizens with disabilities, and placing an emphasis on high visibility community inclusion as a whole.Advocating for Public Policy Change
Advocating for Public Policy Change (APPC) is a grant funded by the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (ODDC) and is administered by Havar Inc. in both Athens and Washington Counties. The grants primary objective is to include, teach, and promote persons with disabilities to participate with public policy makers toward advocating systems change in local and state legislation
