Autism Resources
Trained staff provide in home supports for children and adults with autism. We maintain an extensive resource library addressing the challenges of autism. We can provide staff and family training and mentoring, as well as friendship classes for young people with autism.
Additionally, we operate a home for four young adults with severe forms of autism. This home is located in Marietta and focuses on dietary, behavioral, environmental, communication, and behavioral interventions.

Futures Planning
Havar employs a seasoned manager whose responsibility is to convene circles of support around individuals served, and to facilitate planning for a desired future. This function includes a great deal of follow-along effort, as well as creation of unpaid circle participants if none already exist. Thus far, dreams and results have been just as varied as the indviduals and their allies!

Children Services
Havar provides respite and parent mentoring. A parent mentor can assist in improving parenting skills or learn alternative parenting techniques that nurture a child’s self esteem and overall well-being. We also assist with appropriate parenting techniques including positive communication, listening and setting limits for discipline. This service is offered through a contract with the Family and Children First Councils in each county.

Supported Community Employment
Havar offers several models of competitive and integrated employment opportunities. We are CARF accredited for several employment services, and have helped supported individuals to find and keep community jobs; to build their own business; and to learn work skills by way of internship at our own miniature golf course.
Havar sponsors a Community Action Team (CAT) in each of Athens and Washington Counties. Once a month, well-connected community members meet gather over lunch to meet one job-seeker. Team members are not expected to employ the individual, but to listen closely to his/her interests and desires, and then to brainstorm possibilities and connections. This has been a highly successful and satisfying model.
